Khabarovsk-based Amurmetal facility makes 30,000 tns of steel
KHABAROVSK, Aug 17 (PRIME) -- The Amurmetal plant, the only metallurgical facility in Russia’s Far East resumed operations in late July after a 6-month shutdown to produce 30,000 tonnes of steel, the Far East Development Ministry said quoting Vladimir Lebedev, CEO of Torex-Khabarovsk, a resident of the Khabarovsk priority development area, on Thursday.
“Torex bought the facility in late January to become its strategic investor. The plant resumed operations on July 29, 2017, creating jobs for 2,700 people… and has produced over 30,000 tonnes of steel by now,” he said.
Lebedev also said that his company plans to modernize the plant.
The facilityá located in the Khabarovsk Region, is to produce 51,000 tonnes of steel in August and 1 million tonnes of steel in the first year of operation. It has a capacity of 2.15 million tonnes of steel annually.
